Puglia is a region in the south of Italy often called the heel of the boot. But it’s so much more than just that. Winning views of ancient buildings and turquoise waters, sensational people that are happy to help a lost traveler, and phenomenal food of fresh olives, tomatoes and cheese. Here are some tips to make the most of what Puglia already has.
Stay Awhile
If you’re planning just a week here, there is so much to do! A few short drives and day trips to surrounding towns, some walks around the city where your villa is located and you’re covered. But if you’re going to come to Puglia, then it’s well worth it to put in some days. Ten days to a fortnight will give you plenty of time to take it easy and experience much of what Puglia has to offer.
Stay During The Right Time
Everyone tends to go on holiday around the same time in August. Not sure why we do this to ourselves but it could be a packed beach full of kids, tourists and tour boats. Not the relaxing holiday you dreamed of? Everything is increasingly more expensive during that time as well. So when planning your getaway, think of a more off peak month. A more optimal time would fall around the end of June avoiding July and August, then again in mid September. These times you are more likely to have a less expensive time with a sparsely populated beach and that famous fabulous weather.
Stay Somewhere Comfortable
When travelling, it’s important to stay somewhere comfortable, when you’re in Puglia it’s equally important to stay somewhere inspiring. Stay in a Puglia Villa and have both! Your own private luxury villa with all the amenities. Imagine waking up in the morning (or afternoon, we don’t judge) and step out your bedroom door to a pristine pool with an incredible view as the backdrop. Here you can have it all.
Hire A Car
The UK, Europe and of course Italy have great public transportation. Busses and trains that go almost everywhere in these ancient lands are very normal. However Puglia may be an exception. That’s not to say the transportation isn’t available, it definitely is, but it will take half of your holiday just getting to the destination. You will miss all the small villages and special corners that a road trip brings.
