Period pain got you down? 4 effective remedies

Period pain is a common condition that affects many women.

These are intense contractions of the uterus that are caused by prostaglandins, chemicals released during menstruation. Other causes of period pain include endometriosis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

There are many ways to manage your pain but it is important to find the right type of remedy for you. Some people respond better to over-the-counter medications while others prefer natural remedies. We have gathered a few tips in order to help you understand how to deal with cramps effectively.

1. Hot Water Bottles and Heat Packs

Hot water bottles and heat packs are two of the most popular ways to soothe menstrual cramps. They are used for the same purpose and do not differ much in terms of effectiveness. The only major difference is that heat packs can be heated up more quickly than hot water bottles, which usually take a few minutes to heat up.

A hot water bottle is a device that is filled with hot water, which then heats up and provides warmth for people who suffer from pain or cold. Hot water bottles are usually made out of different materials like rubber, vinyl, or cotton. They can be found in many shapes and sizes and come in different colors as well. It helps the muscles of the stomach relax and can be great for reducing your cramps.

2. Edibles

Cannabis is a plant that has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. And it is not just the leaves or flowers that are used for this purpose. Cannabis edibles have been used for a long time to treat pain, stress, and even menstrual cramps.

It is important to note that not all cannabis edibles are created equal. The effects of the edible will depend on the type of cannabis used in making it and how much THC and CBD it contains.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays an important role in our body’s natural processes such as mood regulation, appetite, sleep, and pain response. When we use weed edibles, they interact with this system by activating receptors in our brains to produce various effects depending on the type of edible consumed. This is the perfect way of dealing with cramps if you do not wish to smoke cannabis but still want to get its benefits.

3. Ibuprofen or Naproxen

Ibuprofen and naproxen are both NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) that are used to relieve pain, swelling, and stiffness caused by conditions such as arthritis and menstrual cramps.

Although they have similar uses, ibuprofen is more effective than naproxen in relieving pain. Ibuprofen is also less expensive. Naproxen can cause stomach ulcers and heartburn when taken for long periods of time. Make sure that you do not take too many of these as it is important to keep your intake moderated.

4. Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of alternative medicine that involves the stimulation of specific points on the body with finger or hand pressure. It has been used for centuries in China and Japan to relieve pain, improve blood circulation and stimulate other natural healing processes in the body.

The acupressure points are located on meridians, which are invisible paths that carry energy through our bodies. When one point is stimulated, it affects the flow of energy through other connected points along these meridians. This can drastically reduce your pain sensations and give you a ton of relief.

It is important to understand different remedies that can help you in dealing with severe menstrual cramps. Use this list to help you find some remedies that might work for you.
